Run
Running can be one of the most fun and rewarding forms of exercise. Training to pass a PFT is probably not the time to sell you on this idea, so let's start with the basics.
Before beginning to run, shoes and clothing are very important. Be sure to have comfortable shorts and a shirt that is not made of cotton. Find someone who is capable of helping you purchase a good pair of running shoes that are correct for your feet. Click on the link to get a good idea of what you need. The shoe dog at Road Runner Sports will do you right. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/product/shoe-dog.jsp?cm_re=hp-_-left_1-_-shoe_dog
The final tool needed is a watch with a 30 lap timer. The only way to get better is to evaluate your times and concentrate on results.
Things to Know:
Good Form is a must. Upright, leaning slightly forward with arms and shoulders pulled back by the side. Keep feet close to the ground as you shuffle forward.
Breathe through your mouth 100% of the time. Inhale every 2 steps and exhale every 2 steps. Oxygen is the fuel for the body. This will also help you keep a steady pace.
