Sit-Ups

Sit-ups are a learned art. Most people struggle with these due to having weak abs. Do not be concerned if you are unable to complete many reps in the beginning. With daily practice your goal will come fast.

Before beginning this exercise, know the exact technique required for testing. Are your arms crossed on your chest? Are your fingers interlaced behind your head, or do the finger just have to touch your head or ears? It is very important to practice the techinque required.

Do you have to break the plane or touch your knees for the sit-up to count?

Set a daily goal of completing 120% of your required number. This will strenghten you and ensure positve results on test day.

Begin by stretching and warming up. Have someone hold your legs and count each sit-up until you have completed the required amount plus 20 % or until muscle failure. Allow 1 minute rest and continue until complete.

Things to know:

Doing a set in the morning and evening will quicken results.

As you complete each sit-up touch right elbow to left knee and left elbow to right knee and count as one. This will strengthen the entire stomach muscle and increase results quicker.

Try completing some sit-ups without having someone hold your legs. This will concentrate the effort on the abs and releave the thigh muscles from so much work.

Once a week do a timed drill for practice.
